Saturday night brings us a four-game slate with a Big Ten feel to it. Purdue, Minnesota and Maryland are all in action, with the Boilermakers and Golden Gophers taking on Big 12 rivals Texas and Oklahoma, respectively. All eight teams are playing their second game of the season and that makes it a bit easier to see what all of the coaches have in mind when it comes to player rotation.

Most of the top teams were off Saturday, but there are some huge games coming up this week. LSU and Alabama meet up in Tuscaloosa and that game will likely decide the top team in the country. The loser could be in good shape for a spot in the playoffs though. They would almost certainly miss out on the SEC championship game, but would be a one-loss team in a very good SEC. The big story this week was Oklahoma’s shocking loss to Kansas State. That seriously hurts Oklahoma’s chances to reach the playoffs, even if they manage to win out from here. For now that leaves Alabama, LSU, Ohio State and Clemson in the playoffs. Of course those two SEC teams face off on November 9th and that could change the playoff picture. Alabama moved to 7-0, but lost quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for at least a couple weeks with a high ankle sprain. The good news for the Crimson Tide is that after hosting Arkansas, they have a bye week before hosting LSU on November 9th. That could be the game of the year and decide the winner of the SEC West. There were some huge upsets across the college football landscape on Saturday, but none were bigger than South Carolina shocking Georgia between the hedges. That knocks Georgia out of the playoffs for now and could leave a lot of questions for the selection committee. Right now we project LSU to finish with one regular season loss, at Alabama, and finish the regular season 11-1.
