Central Arkansas FCS Football
George Hammond
Sun, 09/22/2013

Last Four In: Tennessee-Martin, Youngstown State, Richmond, Central Arkansas

First Four Out: Chattanooga, Stephen F. Austin, Indiana State, Illinois State

With Gardner-Webb’s 3-0 upset victory over Wofford Saturday night, Richmond’s loss to the Bulldogs doesn’t seem so shocking. Why the focus on Richmond? With Stony Brook having to go the remainder of the year without top running back Marcus Coker ...

Just when we were all but giving up on the American Athletic Conference making things interesting for Louisville, the conference had a strong week. The Cardinals, of course, won 72-0 over Florida International, but Houston and Rutgers had more impressive victories. The Cougars remained undefeated after going to Rice and holding on for a 31-26 win. The Scarlet Knights were down 24-7 to Arkansas late in the third quarter, but a punt return for a touchdown by Janarion Grant sparked the Rutgers squad and then Gary Nova connected with Leonte ...

Most of the conferences have moved into conference play, but there are still some good non-conference matchups as well.  This weekend has a full slate of interesting matchups starting on Thursday and going all the way through Sunday afternoon.  Some of the key games include the ...

Betting Turf Week 4 Football

Gambling sharps (the best gamblers around) are right roughly 57% of the time. That figure sounds low to most. But, in fact, it is a high enough figure to make a living off of. The key to being a sharp is not only picking more winners than losers, but also finding the best lines and odds for your bets. An extra half point here, an extra point there makes a huge difference over the course of a season. ...

Week 4 FCS Football Game Breakdowns

The ESPN GameDay crew is headed to downtown Fargo to highlight North Dakota State, who is hosting Delaware State on Saturday. But there are plenty of other quality games going on this weekend. The CAA has a couple interesting conference games this weekend with Stony Brook heading to Villanova and William & Mary hosting Rhode Island. And, finally, the Ivy League is kicking off this weekend. Harvard has an ...

Last Four In: Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Rutgers, Arkansas

First Four Out: Missouri, Colorado, Ole Miss, Louisville

The bubble took a bit of a turn south for Colorado with a loss to an excellent Denver team. Losing by three goals is not an encouraging sign for the Buffaloes heading into the heart of conference play where the schedule will get much tougher. Oklahoma State battled Penn ...

It was another big week for the Big West. Cal State Northridge got the best win, knocking off New Mexico 3-2 in Albuquerque. The Matadors are now 6-0-0. The Anteaters of UC Irvine also got a great road win at Louisville and have moved themselves into the bracket. Cal Poly added a ...

Last Four In: Tennessee-Martin, Youngstown State, Samford, Northern Arizona

First Four Out: Richmond, Stephen F. Austin, Chattanooga, Indiana State

Fordham and Tennessee-Martin take center stage after scoring impressive victories over strong competition. With victories over Villanova and Temple, the Rams (3-0) appear to be the team to beat in the Patriot League, although they are not eligible to ...

The top teams were finally tested today, albeit some more than others. Alabama spotted Texas A&M 14 points before reeling off 35 unanswered. But the Aggies made a superb comeback effort and seriously tested the Tide defense. Alabama answered the call, but allowing 42 points to anybody could be a problem. Ohio State also got a nice test at Cal and Oregon went up against Tennessee. The Buckeyes struggled a bit defensively, which is not a huge surprise against Cal. Considering Braxton Miller was sitting on the sidelines, any road win is a ...

Women’s Soccer Games of the Week (9/12 - 9/15)

This weekend starts conference play for some conferences, mainly the ACC, arguably the nation's top soccer conference.  And there is no shortage of top games right out of the gate, as witnessed by Thursday's FSU-Wake Forest matchup.
