First Four Out: Illinois, Notre Dame, SMU, Alabama
The SEC did not have a great week 1, but in the expanded playoff era, teams like Alabama and Texas are still very much in the playoff picture. Of course, their jobs have gotten much more difficult. Even with the SEC losing a couple premiere contests, we still project five SEC teams in the playoffs. We will see how all of that shakes out in the end, but for now they outmatch the top heavy Big Ten and their three playoff representatives.
