The Madness Bowl Projections Aren’t Giving Up On Nebraska
Sure Nebraska got slaughtered by Wisconsin on Saturday night. It was not pretty and not a good way to be welcomed into the Big Ten. However, College Sports Madness is not giving up on their BCS bowl potential. Wisconsin is really, really good, so it is not a bad loss in the first place. The Cornhuskers certainly have issues to work out, but the Big Ten is full of mediocre teams that are beatable on any given Saturday. On paper Nebraska’s toughest remaining games are at Penn State and at Michigan in back-to-back weeks in the middle of November. But this is a Penn State team that has no quarterback and barely beat Indiana on Saturday and a Michigan squad that, if history has taught us anything, is ready to implode at any moment. That moment will likely be when Denard Robinson gets hurt. That leaves Nebraska as the favorite to win the Legends Division.
Nebraska could just go ahead and win that game and get a Rose Bowl bid, but more likely they will again lose to Wisconsin. But if they have two losses against the Badgers, they will still be eligible for a BCS bowl and why wouldn’t a bowl pick Nebraska? They travel very well and would have proven to be the second best team in the Big Ten. The Sugar Bowl would love to have Nebraska square off against LSU, as the latest College Sports Madness Bowl Projections project, even if Nebraska cannot beat Wisconsin.
