Katelyn Murdoch WNBA Draft Profile

Katelyn Murdoch, Senior, Small Forward, Denver

 Denver Team Page

A 5-11 small forward, Katelyn Murdoch does not look like a shot blocking extraordinaire. Yet, she wasted little time becoming one of the best shot blockers to ever suit up for Denver. As a freshman she averaged 2.3 blocks per game and set a school record with 13 blocked shots in a single game. Murdoch proved to be much more than shot blocker during the 2008-2009 campaign though, ranking second on the team with 9.7 points and 6.6 rebounds.

By her sophomore season Murdoch was asked to do more and she did not disappoint, leading the team with 15.8 points per game and proving to be a dynamic interior scorer. She also grabbed 7.5 boards per contest and continued to improve her shot blocking abilities. The story was pretty much the same during Murdoch’s junior season as she once again led the team in scoring and blocked shots and added 7.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.

Final Projection:

Murdoch is an interesting prospect looking ahead to the next level. Her athleticism and knack for blocking shots makes her different than most other small forwards in the WNBA. She is not a shooter, but her offensive game is extremely efficient as she has shot around 60 percent from the floor during her collegiate career with the Pioneers. Those skills should get her a long look from every WNBA team.
