Wake Forest Capitalizing on their Success

Wake Forest Capitalizing on their Success

Not long ago the Demon Deacons were in the Orange Bowl. The following two years, in 2007 and 2008, they also went bowling. However, Coach Jim Grobe failed to build on that success with solid recruiting classes and now Wake Forest is paying the price with mediocrity on the field. However, in the end zone that opponents often visit, the athletic department is paying a nice little price for a new video board.

There is nothing wrong with a new video board. It will be nice and help fill the void in the open end of BB&T Field. That is good for recruiting, fans and ACC football. What is odd is the quarterly hour updates from the construction camera. Watching a crane move in not quite real time is quite exciting. The camera did not even capture any fireworks on the night of the Fourth of July…yeah I actually checked. This type of thing is nothing new and Wake Forest is not to blame. Schools do this all the time now and construction companies offer the service. I am just not sure why.

Wake Forest was a good story back in 2006, but they just had a tough time keeping up with the rest of the Atlantic Coast Conference. That happens in big conferences to schools like Wake Forest. They will have another good run at some point, but it seems like all they got out of their trip to the Orange Bowl was a video board. And we all get to painfully watch it getting built. Somebody should go run around in the end zone or something to at least give us something to look at until the board shows up. For those with as much free time as me, you can watch the OxBlue Construction Camera in all of its glory here.
