Coming off a 2013 season when they reached the NCAA Super Regionals before losing to Indiana, the Florida State Seminoles look even stronger this year and should challenge in the latter stages of the NCAA postseason. Returning a deep and experience roster, they have also added 13 new players after a stellar recruiting year and will be hopeful of doing well in the ACC and beyond. A great deal of attention will be on Jameis Winston after his Heisman Trophy-winning year with the Seminoles’ football team, but Florida State have plenty of other talented players sure to take them far this season.

2013: 47-17, 20-10
2013 Postseason: NCAA
Coach: Mike Martin

Field Players:
Offensive leader DJ Stewart returns for the Seminoles and will be one of the leaders in the outfield after being named a Freshman All-American. In just his sophomore season, Stewart will be joined by a strong group of position players that includes Jose Brizuela at third base and John Nogowski at first base.

Pitchers:
A strong Seminoles pitching staff sees the return of four starting pitchers from last year. They will be led by senior Gage Smith and Luke Weaver, with the latter named as a preseason second team All-American by Perfect Game.

Who to Watch:
All eyes will be on Jameis Winston, the pitcher and outfielder who also happened to be the winner of the Heisman Trophy as the Seminoles’ quarterback in their run to the BCS National Championship. Winston’s inclusion is sure to spark further interest in Florida State’s baseball games, especially since he is a very talented player on the mound.

Final Projection:
Florida State has a very strong roster this year, and while much attention will be on Winston they have numerous talented players across the field. Many of last year’s team are returning, so with that experience of the NCAA Super Regionals under their belts, the Seminoles should look to advance even further into the College World Series if they can be consistent and stay healthy.
