Last Eight In: Washington State, Texas, BYU, Villanova, Dayton, Florida, Rutgers, Oklahoma

First Eight Out: Saint Mary’s, Colorado, Georgia Tech, USC, East Carolina, Duquesne, Marquette, Missouri

The big story last week was Notre Dame’s dominance of Duke on Sunday afternoon. The Irish, led by Jewell Loyd and Kayla McBride, were up ten at halftime and ended up winning 88-67. It was the first time Duke lost at home in ACC play since 2008. Obviously the ACC was shaken up by the addition of Notre Dame, but few expected the Irish to waltz into Cameron Indoor Stadium and dominate the way they did. Unless Connecticut loses, Notre Dame is still stuck as the second overall #1 seed in the bracket. The Blue Devils could move off of the top line if they falter a couple more times. But, for now, Duke is still one of the best four teams in the country and should be able to recover. The two meet again on February 23rd in South Bend.
