First Eight Out: LSU, Stanford, Kansas State, Maryland, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas, Utah State

California failed to get a big win in non-conference play, but once the calendar turned to 2014 and familiar Pac-12 foes were on the slate, the Golden Bears really turned things around. Cal is just 3-0 in the Pac-12, but all three wins were on the road and this is a team that suddenly is competing for a conference title. It started back on January 2nd when Cal knocked off rival Stanford 69-62. Last week the Bears traveled north to take on Oregon and Oregon State. Against the Ducks freshman Jordan Mathews burst onto the scene, scoring 32 points. Fellow guard Justin Cobbs scored 20 and added 11 assists. Five Bears reached double figures in that contest. Against the Beavers it was Cobbs again leading the balanced scoring attack, scoring 20 points and dishing out nine assists. California has a long way to go, but if they can find some more depth, this is a team to watch come March.
