Week 8 FCS Football Game Breakdowns

The FCS bracket is beginning to come into focus, but there is still a long, long way to go. And week eight will be a huge week for many teams fighting to get into, or stay, in the playoff picture. In the Big Sky, Cal Poly is looking for a big win when they head to Montana. Eastern Washington and surprise Southern Utah also face off. The Thunderbirds could jump onto the national radar with a win. The CAA always has interesting matchups. Most notable this week is 4-2 William & Mary traveling to 5-1 Maine. The Salukis of Southern Illinois won at South Dakota State and at Northern Iowa in the last two weeks. They will look to make it three huge wins in a row when they host North Dakota State. In the OVC, Tennessee State and Tennessee-Martin is the game of the week. That one has huge OVC title and playoff implications. Of all those great games, perhaps it is Sam Houston State heading to McNeese State that is the biggest of them all. Both teams are 5-1 and the winner has the edge in the Southland race. The loser is going to have little margin for error when looking for an at-large berth into the playoffs.
