Loucheiz Purifoy NFL Draft Profile

Loucheiz Purifoy NFL Draft Profile

Loucheiz Purifoy, Junior, Cornerback, Florida

Overview:

Just imagine if Patrick Peterson was better at blocking kicks and that is Loucheiz Purifoy. Do I have your attention yet? Okay, despite the exaggeration, the Florida junior has all the makings of a Peterson-type. He plays offense, and is looking to become a larger part of the Florida offense during his junior year. He plays special teams exceptionally. His freshman season was highlighted by his special teams play. Purifoy forced fumbles, blocked kicks and returned kicks both his first season as a reserve corner and last season as a defensive starter. Playing three sides may tire out most players but Loucheiz somehow managed to also be the Gators' best cover corner. With zero interceptions tallied through his first two seasons, critics may see a red flag. However, opponents just shied away from the young man.

Final Projection:

As potentially the top defensive back in the NFL draft, it would help Purifoy's stock if he was able to pick off a couple passes this season. However, that may not be a necessity. He has perfect size and athleticism to play corner in the pros. He is physical enough and can play single coverage very well, as that is what Florida often asked of him. The special teams talents are just a boon to his future potential and help set the Patrick Peterson comparisons even if they are far-fetched at the moment. Loucheiz Purifoy will be a first round pick and the top corner barring a bad junior season.
