There was quite of bit of excitement leading up to the announcement of the host sites on Sunday night. Of course the bigger excitement will be on Monday when the entire field is announced, but teams like Vanderbilt, LSU and North Carolina were battling for higher seeds on Sunday. For the Tar Heels, they practically played an extra game that went well into the early hours of Sunday. UNC eventually beat North Carolina State 2-1 in an 18 inning thriller. After a quick nap, the Tar Heels were back in action Sunday afternoon and managed to beat Virginia Tech 4-1 in the ACC tournament final. A conference title was not enough to regain the top overall seed, but it certainly helped stem their minor slump late in the season.
