Greg Childs NFL Draft Profile

Greg Childs NFL Draft Profile

Greg Childs, Senior, Wide Receiver, Arkansas

Overview:

Greg Childs has worked his way up and eventually emerged as Arkansas’ go to receiver. As a freshman in 2008 he played in all 12 games, but did not see too much action. He ended the year catching 18 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns. Even back then he was a big play threat. As a sophomore Childs turned into quarterback Ryan Mallett’s favorite target. He led the Razorbacks with 48 receptions, 894 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns.

Childs was well on his way to leading the team in receiving again in 2010. However, a knee injury stopped his junior campaign abruptly after eight games. Childs was again Mallett’s favorite target, but emerged as a more consistent receiver and not just a big play threat.

Final Projection:

At 6-3 and 217 pounds, Childs has a nice combination of size and speed. He has been recorded running a 40 in the 4.4’s, but that may be a little generous. His strength at the line of scrimmage and his speed to get around opposing cornerbacks has been apparent during his years going up against some of the nation’s best corners in the Southeastern Conference and he will be ready to do the same in the NFL.
