Archie Goodwin NBA Draft Profile

Archie Goodwin NBA Draft Profile

Archie Goodwin, Freshman, Shooting Guard, Kentucky

Overview:

Archie Goodwin was the only player who started all 33 games at Kentucky. Of course the Wildcats did not have a great season, losing four of their last five, including their opener in the SEC Tournament to Vanderbilt and in the first round of the NIT against Robert Morris. Goodwin led the Wildcats with 14.1 points per game and added 4.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists.

Goodwin is not a great shooter, only connecting on 26.6 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc. He is obviously a capable scorer who can use his 6-4 frame and great athleticism to get to the basket and finish…or at least get to the free-throw line. Even if Goodwin’s offense does not develop as hoped, he can still play great defense from day one in the NBA.

Final Projection:

With his size and athleticism, NBA scouts are very excited about Goodwin. His defensive presence will make him a first round pick, but if he can show that he has some more potential offensively, Goodwin has a very high ceiling and that could boost his stock by draft day. With some good shooting performances during the pre-draft workouts, Goodwin could easily move into the top 15.
