First Eight Out: West Virginia, Washington, Kansas, San Diego State, Duquesne, Fordham, Saint Mary’s, Wyoming
Creighton’s overtime loss to Illinois State made every bubble team even more anxious leading up to Monday night’s NCAA Tournament selections. Creighton looks pretty strong to be an at-large team after finishing with a 24-7 record. Wins over Nebraska and BYU certainly help the resume. Their only bad loss came at Indiana State in early February. Creighton’s addition to the at-large pool, and either Wichita State or Illinois State joining the Madness, knocks Fordham, who lost a heartbreaker to Saint Joseph’s in the A-10 final, out of the bracket.
