 JaMychal Green NBA Draft Profile

JaMychal Green, Senior, Power Forward, Alabama

Overview:

JaMychal Green came to Alabama with the reputation of being a bruiser in the paint. It did not take long at all for Crimson Tide fans to see why he had that reputation. In his first ever collegiate game, Green tallied a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing a dozen rebounds against Mercer. The 6-8, 228 pound forward performed just as well against Southeastern Conference competition and ended the year averaging 10.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks.

Green did not let up during his sophomore season in 2010-2011. He continued to dominate in the paint on both ends of the floor, averaging 14.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks. By the time he was an upperclassman, the Montgomery native turned into Alabama’s unquestioned leader on the floor, paving the way for a surprisingly successful season with his 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per contest.

Final Projection:

Green can battle with just about anybody in the paint on either end of the floor and his toughness will be one of the main qualities that will get him selected in the 2012 NBA Draft. Green is not much of a shooter and will spend most of his time in the paint, but he is capable of consistently knocking down the mid-range jumper. His most unique skill may be his uncanny ability to grab offensive rebounds. Of his 7.5 rebounds per game during his junior campaign, 3.1 of them came on the offensive end and more often than not those led to easy points for Green and the Crimson Tide.
