Last Eight In: Villanova, Tennessee, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Temple, Saint Mary’s, Wichita State, Kentucky
First Eight Out: La Salle, Virginia, Alabama, Southern Miss, Iowa, Baylor, Arizona State, Middle Tennessee State
Five down and just 63 more to go. Over the weekend a few teams punched their ticket, if you will. And many were in thrilling fashion. Belmont slipped past Murray State in overtime to make OVC teams wonder why they let the Bruins into the conference. Florida Gulf Coast pulled off a bit of an upset at Mercer to make their first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. Out in the Ivy League it looked like it may take until Tuesday, or beyond with a playoff, to figure out who was going to represent the conference. But Harvard won on Friday and Saturday, while Princeton lost twice over the weekend to clinch a spot for the Crimson. On Sunday, Liberty made headlines by winning the Big South. The Flames were the fifth seed in the North Division and got very hot and the exact right time. Next stop, Dayton! The MVC title game probably only affected seeding as both Creighton and Wichita State should be in the tournament. Creighton got a nice boost to their resume and should be a six or seven seed next Sunday.
