Mel Dumezich NPF Draft Profile
Mel Dumezich, Senior, Pitcher/1B, Texas A&M

Throws: Right, Bats: Right

Overview:

A former ESPN RISE cover girl, Dumezich is unlike many draft prospects in that she is multi-dimensional. Starting in 59 games for the Aggies in 2012, she posted career-best numbers in several offensive categories with 20 home runs, 47 RBI, 30 Runs, 48 hits and a .707 slugging percentage. Add to that she walked 39 times and cut her strikeouts in half (27) from her freshman year (56). Not only were opponents wary of Dumezich at the plate, she started 40 games in the circle, with a 28-13 record, 31 complete games, 2.01 ERA and over 300 strikeouts in 275 innings.

Final Projection:

NPF teams will note that Mel’s statistics have risen year by year, and should be interested in having a quality pitcher who can hit for both average and power, can pitch effectively and is solid defensively. Her career .968 fielding percentage topped out at .985 in 2012.
