Jonathan Cooper NFL Draft Profile

Jonathan Cooper, Senior, Guard, North Carolina

Overview:

Cooper is a guard that helped lead the way for North Carolina running back Giovani Bernard, whose stock has been boosted this year from his strong performances.  Cooper is a big reason why.  The 6’3” 310 lb. senior is a load up front.  He was the linchpin in that offensive line.  The Tar Heels ranked 9th in sacks allowed.  That’s a clear indication of how talented this group was.  Cooper was the star.

Final Projection:

Experts think that this offensive line class has the ability to crack the top 15 or top 20 (outside of the tackle position).  There are just that many good players.  Depending on the squad, certain GMs might take a look at Cooper and take a shot early on.  Balance is important in the NFL.  Teams without running games usually don’t have very good offensive lines.  That’s why Cooper would be considered so valuable.  Top 15 might be a little high, but he is solidly in the first half of the second round or higher.
