Alex Len NBA Draft Profile

Alex Len NBA Draft Profile

Alex Len, Sophomore, Center, Maryland

Overview:

Alex Len had an odd freshman season at Maryland. He was a DNP for the team’s first 10 games of the year. In the Terrapins’ next four contests, Len’s first four games as a collegian, he roundly put up the following four lines:
14 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, while shooting 6 for 9 from the floor
13, 7, 1, shooting 4 for 5
15, 9, 3, shooting 5 for 5
12, 11, 2, shooting 5 for 7
That would be impressive for any ACC big man, let alone a first year player. As the year progressed, the blocks actually went up, the rebounding stayed pretty consistent but the scoring fluctuated, as would be expected from any freshman. If he puts it all together in his sophomore season, showcasing what he is capable of night after night, Len should be one of the first big men off draft boards.

Final Projection:

The ability is not a question. The consistency is. Alex Len took the court against North Carolina three times as a freshman. His first game, Len semi-dominated, with a 12 and 9 line, along with 4 blocks. The second contest, he was average at best, scoring 6 and grabbing 6 boards. The third match-up, he was shut out and grabbed just 3 rebounds. NBA teams will draft Len with that first game in mind, hoping he can even improve upon that as he grows as a player, meaning a first round selection seems assured and a lottery pick is possible.
