Softball World Series College Station Regional Breakdown

College Station Regional Breakdown

Texas A&M’s Mel Dumezich has had another great season. She leads the Aggies in the circle and at the plate. On the mound, Dumezich has amassed 28 wins and struck out 294 batters in 259.0 innings of work. At that plate she hits .304 and has crushed 17 homeruns. There are other options at the plate, most notably the consistent hitting of Emily Albus and the powerful bat of Cassie Tysarczyk. However, this team relies very heavily on Dumezich. That is not a bad thing necessarily since there are few other players in the nation that a team would rather depend on, but one bad day for Dumezich could be big trouble for the Aggies.

LSU should be the biggest test standing between Texas A&M and a trip to the SuperRegionals. The Tigers have one of the best pitchers in the nation in Rachele Fico. However, the Tigers offense has struggled big time and they will desperately need to find some hitters. Texas State has some great pitchers of their own and this is not a team that should be overlooked. They did knock off the likes of BYU, Baylor and Texas Tech earlier in the season. Like LSU, the bats may be quiet, but the Bobcats are very strong in the circle with Anne Marie Taylor and Chandler Hall leading the way.
