softball capsule test

Alabama Crimson Tide
SEC (, )

Softball Sample. This is the opening paragraph that can talk about any number of things…past success or failures in the postseason, a key player and so on. I’d shoot for 50 to 150 words here. Above we will fill in the records after the conference name, so leave that as is. If you want to add some “Big Wins” and “Bad Losses” there are a few things to note. First, a home game says nothing after the date, a road game says “at” and a neutral game says “vs” without a period. Also note that in the losses, Missouri’s (in this case) score comes first. Bad Losses will have three games even if those aren’t really bad losses, but if the team only lost three games, they will all be listed. And they are listed in order of date. “Coach” is pretty easy and self-explanatory. If you can’t find the info, we’ll fill it in.

Big Wins: 2/25 vs Washington (2-0), 2/26 vs UCLA (7-5), 4/1 Baylor (7-0)
Bad Losses: 2/18 vs Eastern Kentucky (5-6), 2/26 vs Northwestern (1-7), 4/13 Texas Tech (0-2)
Coach: Ehren Earleywine (5 seasons at Missouri)

Why They Can Surprise:
This section concentrates on team strengths and star players. This section tends to be longer than the section below, but leave it one paragraph for the sake of consistency. I’d aim for 150 to 200 words here and 100 to 200 words on the “Why They Can Disappoint” section. As usual with these types of things, plan ahead on what each section is going to talk about. If you know this section is going to talk about the team’s great hitters and the “Disappoint” section is going to talk about the inexperienced pitchers, that may give you an idea of who or what to talk about in the top section. If you have player or team stats that will be different by the end of the season, simply bold the stat and some words around it and we’ll put in the stats when the season is over. For example, Chelsea Thomas had another superb season, striking out 100 batters in 89.1 innings of work. Where possible, avoid statistics by saying something like “Chelsea Thomas had another superb season, striking out over one batter per inning.”

Why They Can Disappoint:
Below all you need to fill in is “Key Field Players” and “Key Pitchers” as shown. Those may change with injuries and so forth. I’ll add player stats after those names when that team finishes up their regular season. For “Key Field Players” try to keep it between 5 and 7 players…pitchers probably 1 to 3. Everything below that is database info that we will add as soon as we get the capsule in from you or team stats that we will input at the end of the season, so don’t worry about anything below “Key Pitchers.” For saving and sending purposes, use this file name, replace “Sample” with team name and put your last name at the end. And send all these to the usual writers@collegesportsmadness.com email address.
