Trumaine Johnson NFL Draft Profile

Trumaine Johnson NFL Draft Profile

Trumaine Johnson, Senior, CB/FS, Montana

Overview:

Trumaine Johnson is a small school prospect with big time size. At 6’2 he is tall for a corner, which is a plus and minus. On the positive end he has the ability to cover any receiver and matches up well with tall wide outs. However, many taller corners lack the fluid hips that are required to play the position effectively, so many project that he may be better suited at safety, especially since he excels in zone coverage. He has great speed and excellent balls skills.

Final Projection:

Johnson has big boom potential so there is no way he lasts past the second round. His stock may slip a little bit if teams think that he will be a safety at the next level rather than a corner. He has first round talent, but there are a few concerns about him because he played at a small school. He never really played press coverage and the fact that he rarely played quality receivers makes is tough to judge how talented he is and how much effort he put in on a weekly basis. However Johnson has too much size and too much talent for teams to ignore.
