Casey Hayward NFL Draft Profile

2012 NFL Draft Profiles

Casey Hayward, Senior, Cornerback, Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt Team Page

Overview:

Casey Hayward has four years of playing experience against the stiff competition in the SEC, but has made himself stand out from the beginning. In his junior season he was second-team all SEC, had six interceptions, 70 total tackles, and defended 17 passes. His senior year he had 54 total tackles, including seven for a loss, picked off five passes, and defended nine passes.

Final Projection:

Hayward is a very athletic, fast, instinctive, playmaking defensive back. He has shown that he is not afraid to put his head down and make a tackle. He is a little undersized at just 188 pounds, but could still add more muscle mass.  He looks to be a late third round choice and could make an impact as a nickel or dime back.
