Lance McCullers MLB Draft Profile

Lance McCullers, Senior, Pitcher, High School

Overview:

Still just in high school, Lance McCullers has been on scouts' radars for a long time. He throws hard, his fastball consistently ranging from 94-97 MPH. With his blazing fastball, he mixes in a power curve and a deceiving change up, which makes him difficult to hit. In his 2011 season he went 5-3 and posted a 2.02 ERA. He started nine games and had three complete games, displaying an impressive amount of stamina. In his 52 innings of work he gave up 34 hits, two homeruns, walked 32 batters, and struck out 79.

Final Projection:

McCuller is still raw and developing as a pitcher. He has great size and a live arm, but as expected, he still needs to work on his command. He should be a top three selection, but is already committed to Florida so he will have to forgo collegiate ball to turn professional. He should develop into a dominating, powerful pitcher as he continues to evolve his repertoire and fine tune his command.
