Jake Barrett MLB Draft Profile

Arizona State College Baseball Jake Barrett 2012 MLB Draft Profile

Jake Barrett, Junior, Pitcher, Arizona State

Arizona State Team Page

Overview:

Jake Barrett has not made a huge impact at Arizona State as an underclassman. During his freshman campaign in 2010 he had just 29 innings pitched. He performed well in his relief role, striking out 43 batters and allowing the opposition to hit just .241. But that is how things work at a program like Arizona State. As a sophomore Barrett stepped into a starting role and pitched in 14 contests. His numbers were not overwhelming, but the 6-3 right handed hurler did a fine job working as the Sun Devils usual Sunday starter.

Final Projection:

Before heading to ASU, Barrett was drafted 99th overall in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. He has a nice fastball that has loads of movement and that is his pitch for now. However, Barrett has a nice looking curve too and his time in college has helped him develop his pitches and that should lead him to the first round in the 2012 MLB Draft.
