Ashley Fleming, Senior, First Base and Outfield, Missouri

Missouri Team Page

Overview:

Ashley Fleming is a versatile hitter who has spent time at the leadoff spot and the cleanup spot for the Tigers. What makes Fleming an interesting prospect is her improvement from year to year. Back in high school she was a pitcher and a basketball star. In fact, she turned down some offers to play Division I basketball. So stepping into the power hitting, speedster role at Mizzou as a freshman took a little adjustment. But Fleming did extremely well and has not stopped getting better. In 2011 she led Missouri with a .345 batting average, 14 homeruns and 62 runs batted in.

Final Projection:

Fleming will continue to improve and the 2012 campaign will be a good test to see if she can continue to be a leader on the field. Where she ends up playing is another question. Fleming is not a bad fielder and she has a ton of speed, so she could end up playing in the outfield at the next level and filling in at first base at times.
