Mid-Major Men's Basketball Game Breakdowns 11/25-11/27

Mid-Major Games of the Week 11/25-11/27

Princeton at Bucknell, Friday November 25th, 6:00

What is going on with Princeton? The Tigers are a pretty good team, but they have losses to Wagner and Elon. They also nearly beat North Carolina State. It may be a little hangover from the coaching change, but sooner or later Princeton needs to turn it around if they want to compete with Harvard for the Ivy League title. The TicketCity Legends Classic is a good place to start. After playing Bucknell on Friday, Princeton takes on Morehead State on Saturday and West Alabama on Sunday. The Bison will provide the toughest test in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

Florida Gulf Coast at Maryland, Friday November 25th, 7:00

FGCU has not beaten anybody good yet this season, but they lost to TCU and SMU by one and hung around against Miami. I am always searching through the Atlantic Sun Conference to find somebody who can compete with Belmont and make the conference race interesting. That team could be Florida Gulf Coast. Meanwhile, Maryland has struggled through a pretty tough schedule. The Terps should be able to beat the Eagles, but it may be a more interesting game then many expect.

Fresno State at North Dakota State, Saturday November 26th, 8:00 ET

North Dakota State is off to a superb start and has wins against San Francisco and Green Bay. The Bison should be making Oral Roberts and Oakland sweat as Taylor Braun, Lawrence Alexander and super sub Mike Felt look to go 6-0 and cement their status as a legitimate contender in the Summit League. Fresno State is not a great team, but they have beaten Illinois State and SMU.

Long Beach State at Montana, Saturday November 26th, 9:00 ET

The 49ers always seem to show up on this list, but this is an interesting game of two teams that could be dangerous 14 or 15 seeds come March. Of course there is a long, long way to go, but Long Beach State was the College Sports Madness favorite to win the Big West and Montana was in the Big Sky. Neither has done anything to dissuade that opinion and this could be seen as a quality win when all is said and done.

Eastern Kentucky at Norfolk State, Sunday November 27th, 4:00 ET

This will not be the most important sporting event for either Eastern Kentucky or Norfolk State this weekend as they both play on Saturday in the first round of the FCS playoffs. But both schools will be looking for a nice win on Sunday as well. Norfolk State is off to a great start on the hardwood thanks to center Kyle O’Quinn. The Spartans knocked off Drexel and TCU and took Marquette down to the wire in the Paradise Jam. Eastern Kentucky has yet to play at home and they have some decent wins and could emerge as a serious contender in the Ohio Valley Conference.
