FCFI Week 5 Review and Week 6 Preview

FCFI Week 5 Review and Week 6 Preview

The good news is College Sports Madness posted a season high 173.80 points in week five of the Fantasy College Football Invitational. The bad news is that our opponent, Sports Overload, posted an amazing 199.30 points, the second highest individual score of the season thus far. So we are now 3-2, but have hope. There is no shame in losing when the opposition put up 199.30 points.

So we are looking ahead to a tough week for us against a solid 4-1 RotoWire squad. Bye-weeks are hitting us hard in week six, so we have to reach pretty far down the bench in some spots. Fortunately, Case Keenum is playing. With Russell Wilson basking in the glory of slaughtering Nebraska, we’ll have to hope Chris Relf can get back on track with a game against UAB.

At running back Chris Polk has the week off, leaving us with Rex Burkhead and Cierre Wood to carry the load. Asher Clark and Ed Wesley are both coming off of solid weeks, so there are a couple options to fill in the third spot. With Clark playing against Notre Dame and since we already will be starting Wood, Wesley will probably get the nod.

Jeremy Ebert and Marquis Maze are the only two wide receivers on the roster who are playing this week. Ebert is a no doubt start after having a superb showing with quarterback Dan Persa back under center. At tight end we are finally giving up on Deangelo Peterson of LSU and picking up Florida Atlantic’s Nexon Dorvilus for the game against North Texas.

At kicker it is time to ride the train wreck that is Minnesota and pick up Purdue’s Carson Wiggs. Even the Boilermakers should be able to score 30 points against the Gophers. The always new defense will be Syracuse this week. The Orange are coming off a solid defensive performance against Rutgers and now face Tulane. The Green Wave allowed five sacks and tallied four turnovers against Army last week. The Cuse should provide some defensive points that we will desperately need if we want to avoid slipping to .500 after such a promising start.
