Boxing Events 2020: Upcoming Fights From All Over the World!

Boxing is al ready having a knock-out 2020! Recently the world gasped as Tyson Fury defeated Deontay Wilder, and there’s every reason to believe that there’s more excitement and potential upset in the pipeline for the rest of the year.

Because of the many leagues across the world, there is not a single season for boxing. That means good news for boxing fans, because you can enjoy and bet on great matches nearly all year-round.

Let’s look at what’s in store for the rest of 2020. While the U.S. is the major boxing capital of the world, there are some major matches happening all over the globe. The first 3 fights we’ll be focusing on take place in the U.S., while the next big matches are across the Pond in the U.K.

1. Rematch: Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder (July or September/October in Las Vegas) The big bout many boxing fans are already waiting for is the rematch between Fury and Wilder. Wilder is coming out of an injury following a bad defeat by Fury, but he was quick to ask for a rematch. July 18 is the slated date in Las Vegas, although it might be postponed as late as October and held in the new Las Vegas Raiders’ 72,000-seater stadium.

2. The next big fight for 2020 is Canelo Alvarez v Billy Joe Saunders (May 2nd in Las Vegas) Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is the “It” boy of the boxing world right now. Alvarez is the favorite of this fight, but many bettors are looking for evidence of an upset as Saunders comes from the U.K. for this big fight.

3. Kal Yafai v Roman Gonzalez (February 29th in Frisco, Texas). Sports fans are debating whether “Chocolito” Gonzalez’s 32 years of age will be a help or hindrance as he faces off with Yafai for the super-flyweight championship.

4. Vasyl Lomachenko versus Teofimo Lopez (April in New York). This is a major lightweight fight that is especially exciting as the two are so evenly matched. While “Loma” is a slight favorite, the relative newness of the fighters makes this anybody’s match.

5. Josh Warrington v Shakur Stevenson (May 16th in Leeds, England). Warrington has been making war on some major opponents - Lee Selby, Carl Frampton and Kid Galahad - and defeated them all. Warrington gets to fight in his home turf of Leeds against 22-year-old American boxer, Shakur Stevenson. This is a featherweight bout not to be missed.

6. Jamel Herring v Carl Frampton (May in Belfast). Belfast native Frampton is hoping his home-ring advantage will help him facing off against Herring. Herring is the reigning super-featherweight champ and is certainly not eager to let that belt go!
