3/9 Men's Basketball Bracketology Breakdown

Last Eight In: Richmond, North Carolina State, Xavier, Indiana, Cincinnati, Stanford, USC, Oklahoma

First Eight Out: UCLA, Wichita State, Texas, Mississippi State, Memphis, Rhode Island, Purdue, Tulsa

Little time was wasted making a mess of the bubble. The first possible tournament that could have been bad for the bubble was very bad for the bubble. Utah State upset San Diego State, making the Mountain West Conference a two-bid league. The Aggies were on the bubble previously, but likely on the wrong side of it. They are now automatically in and that pushes one team out. Such things will likely happen again as we enter championship week. But one other place to watch out for is in the Pac-12. The conference is loaded with bubble teams. At the moment we have UCLA out, with Stanford, USC and Arizona State on the right side of the bubble. Stanford plays Cal on Wednesday and, with a win, play UCLA on Thursday. The game between the Cardinal and the Bruins could be a virtual play-in game to the NCAA Tournament. The loser will certainly have to sweat it out and there may not be room for seven Pac-12 teams.
