Louisiana brings back a loaded offensive lineup led by Alissa Dalton who hit .400 with four homeruns, 43 runs batted in, and 14 stolen bases. Julia Rawls, Kourtney Gremillion, Sarah Hudek, and Raina O’Neal will form a gauntlet of a lineup that will be a huge challenge for opposing pitchers. Mia Camuso will be another big-time bat for the Ragin’ Cajuns as she is eligible after transferring over from the University of Oregon. The pitching staff returns virtually intact led by Summer Ellyson, who was lights out in 2019 as she had a 1.11 earned run average, struck out 354 batters and walked just 56 in 272.1 innings. Carrie Boswell won nine games and did a solid job out of the bullpen along with Kandra Lamb last season. The pitching staff will be even better with the addition of Megan Kleist, who sat out last season after transferring over from the University of Oregon after Mike White left to be the head coach at the University of Texas. Kleist should be able to take some of the work off of Ellyson and the rest of the staff and it will set the Ragin’ Cajuns up to have fresher arms in the postseason. Louisiana will play LSU in a home and home series in the second weekend of the season that will be a good early test. Oklahoma State, Texas, Florida, and a rematch with Ole Miss also highlight the non-conference schedule. Overall, Louisiana should be able to avoid having to go on the road in the NCAA Regional round and have a great shot to get to Oklahoma City in 2020.
Projected Postseason: Women’s College World Series
