Florida won their first ever national championship last season, as well as their sixth straight ACC regular season title. The Seminoles cruised through their home regional in three games, but had to fight hard from there to win the tournament. In the Super Regional against LSU, FSU lost their first game before winning an 11 inning thriller in game two. In the decisive game three, the Seminoles won 3-1. In Oklahoma City, the team again lost early, this time against UCLA. But they fought back and beat UCLA twice in the semifinals and then beat Washington to earn the national title.

2018 Postseason: NCAA

Kylee Hanson, P, 1.33 ERA, 30-6 W/L, 204.2 IP, 241 SO

Key Returning Players:
Sydney Sherrill, UTL, .370 BA, 12 HR, 58 RBI, 16 SB
Carsyn Gordon, IF, .305 BA, 12 HR, 51 RBI, 19 SB
Zoe Casas, OF, .299 BA, 3 HR, 37 RBI

Anna Shelnutt, C, .261 BA, 7 HR, 32 RBI
Cali Harrod, UTL, .243 BA, 5 HR, 31 RBI, 22 SB
Meghan King, P, 1.17 ERA, 26-6 W/L, 198.0 IP, 190 SO

Projection:
With the departure of Kylee Hanson, Meghan King will have to pick up the slack in the circle. King went 26-6 last season with a 1.17 ERA and is certainly capable of becoming the ace of the staff. However, Coach Lonni Alameda will need to find a new second pitcher. Junior Cassidy Davis is the most experienced options, but spent just 34.0 innings in the circle in 2018. The Seminoles will again have one of the most aggressive offenses on the base paths in the nation. Last year they ranked ninth in stolen bases per game and most of those speedsters are back. Sydney Sherrill and Carsyn Gordon are the top hitters on the roster. Sherrill hit .370 with 12 homeruns and 58 RBIs, while Gordon hit .305 with 12 homeruns and 51 RBIs. If those two can continue to drive in runs, not only will Florida State win their seventh straight ACC title, but they will get back to the Women’s College World Series
