Men's Basketball 2018 NCAA Tournament South Region Elite 8 Game Breakdown

South Region Elite Eight Game Breakdown

The upsets continued in the South Region and either Kansas State or Loyola will continue their improbable run and reach the Final Four. The Wildcats managed to sneak past Kentucky by a score of 61-58. Xavier Sneed led the way with 22 points and nine rebounds. Barry Brown added 13 points and has continued to make some big shots during the tournament.

Loyola played another very good game against Nevada to reach the Elite Eight. The Ramblers gave up a few more points against the Wolf Pack, allowing 68 after just giving up 62 against both Miami and Tennessee. But once again it was that solid defense and consistent shooting that got Loyola through to the next round. This time it was Marques Townes that led the Ramblers in scoring. This is the third different leading scorer Loyola has had during the NCAA Tournament.

Kansas State will play very good defense too and this should be a low scoring, close contest. The key to this game could be the outside shooting. The Wildcats shot extremely well from beyond the arc against Creighton and Kentucky and if they do it again against Loyola, they will be heading to the Final Four. If Loyola can knock down those shots and keep K-State from connecting on 40 percent or more of their shots, Loyola will take this game down to the wire.
