5/12 Softball Bracketology Breakdown

Last Four In:  Boston College, Oregon State, Texas, San Jose State

First Four Out: South Florida, San Diego State, SIUE, Cal Poly

Ole Miss pulled the biggest upset so far of the SEC Tournament as they shutout top seeded Florida by a score of 2-0 on Thursday afternoon. Kaitlin Lee was brilliant all afternoon long for the Rebels in the circle as she limited the Gators to just two hits and did not allow a Florida baserunner to get past second base. Now, Ole Miss will get another shot at Alabama and they should have plenty of confidence going up against the Crimson Tide after taking two of three in Oxford earlier this year. A win would probably lock up a regional host slot as a 13 or 14 seed nationally pending how the Pac-12 finishes out this week. Louisville put themselves in harm’s way with the selection committee as they got eliminated by NC State in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals. The Wolfpack defeated the Cardinals by a score of 5-2. Washington took a critical game one against Utah as the Huskies atoned a bit for the bad Stanford loss last Saturday by run-ruling the Utes 12-1 on Thursday afternoon in Salt Lake City. A win in one of the final two games should be enough for Washington to get a top eight national seed on Selection Sunday.
