The third week of the 2017 season features a slew of big games and provides a number of teams with a big opportunity to pick up marquee wins early in the season. Headlining this week’s action will be the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic in Houston. All six teams headed to Houston this weekend are off to great starts to the season and five of them, LSU, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech, figure to be in the mix to host a regional this year. The sixth team in the event, Baylor, is off to an 8-0 start to the season and looking to build on that perfect start as the Bears look to return to a regional for the first time since 2012. This weekend’s games should give a good indication as to how much Baylor has improved in Steve Rodriguez’s second season at the helm. Other noteworthy games this weekend include the Frisco College Classic, featuring Arizona, Arkansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma State, the Dodger Stadium College Classic, featuring Michigan, San Diego, UCLA and USC, as well as series between South Carolina and Clemson, Texas and Stanford, Cal State Fullerton and Houston, and Long Beach State and North Carolina.
