The Clemson Tigers – ranked 2nd in the Associated Press Poll – will visit the Auburn Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium on September 3rd, and SBG Global is the sportsbook to bet on college football on this auspicious occasion. Clemson had the best 2015 season of any team not named Alabama, finishing with a 14-1 record (8-0 in ACC play), winning the ACC Championship game versus North Carolina and the Orange Bowl versus Oklahoma, but losing the CFP National Championship Game versus the aforementioned ‘Bama. Auburn, on the other hand, won the Birmingham Bowl, so that’s something, right?

Clemson -7 (-110) 59 (-110) -290

Auburn +7 (-110) 59 (-110) +245

As of this writing, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn has yet to name a starting QB, saying that “there’s still very good competition” among senior Jeremy Johnson, sophomore Sean White and junior college transfer John Franklin III. Malzahn had never before gone this long – 35-plus practices – and he and offensive coordinator Rhett ‘Butler’ Lashlee seem quite content with waiting to the last minute to appoint a starting quarterback, something that has Clemson’s own defensive coordinator Brent Venables unconcerned. “Doesn't matter one bit to us,” he said. “That's up to them, whether or not they have confidence in their guy.” Malzahn has pretty much one foot out the door, so one might argue about the wisdom of delaying the decision till the 11th hour. Conversely, you can’t blame the man for making the most of what could be his final hours.

Even though Clemson is the favorite at your preferred sportsbook to bet on college football, Athlon Sports & Life magazine has listed Auburn versus Clemson as No. 5 in their predicted ACC biggest upsets. Why is that? Well, Auburn may be a desperate team – and desperation is a stinky cologne. Malzahn himself may be leading a life of quiet desperation, what with his Tigers having regressed since 2013 (when they won the SEC championship and reached the National Championship Game) going 8-5 in 2014 after starting out 5-0 and ranked as number two, and 7-6 in 2015 after being ranked number six in the preseason and expected to clinch a berth in the College Football Playoff. And for whatever it’s worth, Auburn will have home field advantage – and Jordan-Hare Stadium is notoriously difficult for visitors.

Then again, Auburn had its worst season in 60 years in 2012, prior to the turnaround that saw reached unprecedented heights – or maybe they were precedented; I have to brush up on my Tigers history. The point is, you never know when these Tigers might tear Roy a new one. What’s more, Auburn actually leads the all-time series 34-13-2 (the two colleges have long-standing rivalry, though it doesn’t have a quirky name like others). On the other hand, Clemson has won the last two games, including their latest meeting on September 1st, 2012, when the Tigers beat the Tigers 26-19. The last time that Auburn defeated Clemson was on September 18th, 2010, when the Tigers bested the Tigers 27-24. In summary, remember that if you are looking for a sportsbook to bet on college football, SBG Global is just the place to do it.
