Last Eight In: Saint Mary’s, Minnesota, George Washington, Duquesne, Oregon, Tennessee, North Carolina State, Purdue
First Eight Out: Duke, Villanova, Nebraska, San Diego, Iowa, Kansas State, Santa Clara, Western Kentucky
While the big stories will be in the major conferences, the more interesting conference tournaments could be in the Atlantic 10 and the West Coast Conference. The A-10 looks poised to get three teams into the NCAA Tournament, but that could change quickly with a bad showing by George Washington, Duquesne or St. Bonaventure. And Saint Louis and VCU are not far off the bubble either and those two could at least ruin somebody else’s tournament hopes. Out west, BYU is relatively safe, but St. Mary’s, San Diego and Santa Clara are all right on the bubble. Santa Clara has a tough opener against Gonzaga and then would face BYU. So there are a couple big opportunities for Santa Clara to perhaps pick up what would be WCC’s second bid.
