With conference play in full swing, many teams were exposed, while others finally got an opportunity to show what they could do. Teams like Iowa made a big jump with a couple big wins. The Hawkeyes knocked off Michigan State at home, proving just how difficult it is to win on the road in conference play. But then Iowa went to Purdue and beat a very, very good Purdue team. There is a long, long way to go, but other teams like Butler were exposed. Ranked in the top ten, Butler lost their first two Big East games. Those games were against Providence and Xavier, arguably the best two teams in the conference, but the Bulldogs had a huge opportunity to start off strong. Instead, they will be playing catchup the rest of the season.
