Duquesne at William & Mary FCS Football 2015 Playoffs 1st Round Breakdown

Duquesne at William & Mary, Saturday, 3:30

A matchup between the NEC and the CAA will take place in the first round of the playoffs in Williamsburg, Va., on Saturday. Duquesne earned an automatic bid by virtue of winning the outright Northeast Conference title with a victory over St. Francis, Pa., on Saturday. The Dukes were 8-3 overall and 5-1 in the NEC to earn their first FCS playoff berth. Among its losses was a 17-14 setback to Albany, a CAA member in late September.

William & Mary won six of its final seven games en route to an 8-3 record and a 6-2 mark in CAA play to earn its first playoff berth since 2010. The Tribe would have won the league title outright and received a top eight seed had they beaten rival Richmond on Saturday. William & Mary is one of the leaders nationally in turnover margin and doesn’t usually beat itself. When it runs successfully, it usually wins, too.

The Tribe has to go into this game as favorite – as long as they hold onto the ball. If they do, they’ll win and get another chance against Richmond in two weeks in what would be a second-round matchup.

Projected Score: William & Mary 24, Duquesne 14
