Week 5 FCS Football Bracketology Breakdown

George Hammond

Last Four In: Richmond, Northern Arizona, McNeese State, Samford

First Four Out: North Dakota, Indiana State, Southeastern Louisiana, William & Mary

Northern Arizona registered a key conference victory over Montana State on Saturday that could give the Lumberjacks a legitimate chance of making the 24-team FCS playoff field. Although it lost to Montana, Northern Arizona doesn’t face North Dakota or Portland State this season. Eastern Washington is the toughest team left on its schedule. Meanwhile, in the CAA, William & Mary lost to Delaware, 24-23, on a last-second field goal to muddle the conference playoff picture. With standout quarterback John Robertson out with a knee injury, Villanova’s playoff hopes are up in the air even with a strong supporting cast. One scenario that is likely, however, is that the Richmond-William & Mary regular-season ending contest will have big playoff implications.
