Jack Conklin, Offensive Tackle, Michigan State
Overview:
It is not easy at a program like Michigan State for any linemen to come in as a redshirt freshman and make a big impact. In 2013, after redshirting during the 2012 campaign, Conklin started 13 of the 14 games, including ten at left tackle. Asking a freshman to protect Connor Cook is asking a lot, but Conklin did a very good job. By his sophomore season in 2014, Conklin was a leader on the line. He continued to grade out very well and was only responsible for 2.5 sacks all season long.
Final Projection:
Conklin can still beef up a little bit and NFL teams will want to see that. But for a 6-6, 317 pounder, he does have solid footwork. With another good year, or possibly two, protecting the blind side of a Michigan State quarterback, Conklin will be one of the top offensive tackles in the draft.
