Oklahoma Softball No-Hits UCA in NCAA Opener

NORMAN, Okla.-- Paige Parker and Kelsey Stevens combined to hurl a no-hitter as the University of Oklahoma opened the 2015 NCAA Softball Regional in convincing fashion with a five-inning 8-0 victory over Central Arkansas. It was OU's 11th consecutive win in NCAA Regional play and 15th win in 16 games dating back to 2010. Parker (25-5) hurled 45 pitches in the first four innings and fanned two batters and walked one against Central Arkansas, which was making its debut in the NCAA Softball Championship. Stevens finished the game and struck out two and walked one in one inning. While the two held UCA hitless, the Sooners pounded out 13 hits in winning its 46th game of the year against seven losses.

Lauren Chamberlain and Shelby Pendley each went two-for-four and teammate Lea Wodach was two-for-three including a grand slam homer in a six-run bottom of the first inning. It was her fifth homer of the season as the Sooners added a run in the second and another in the fifth to conclude the game on the run-rule.

UCA (35-20) used three pitchers against the Sooners with starter and loser Kylee Studioso (26-13) lasting two-thirds of an inning. Kayla Gomness (3 1/3) and Shivan Landeros (2/3) finished the game for the losers, who drop into the loser's bracket and will face Lehigh, a 2-1 loser earlier, Saturday while OU plays Texas A&M.
