Nebraska vs. USC Holiday Bowl Game Breakdown

Nebraska v. USC – National University Holiday Bowl, Dec. 27, 8pm

This is a good matchup between two teams that lost some steam throughout the season but still had solid years.  What elevates this game is the fact that Nebraska will be playing without the now-fired Bo Pelini.  Not many coaches get fired after a 9-3 season.  Barney Cotton will act as interim coach for the bowl game.  Nebraska has star power in running back Ameer Abdullah, who carried the team before being slowed down by injury in November.  He does everything for the Huskers out of the backfield.  USC will have to neutralize him with a tough defense up front.  Steve Sarkisian’s first year was a good one for the Trojans, though they dropped some games early and could never recover enough to vie for a conference title.  Quarterback Cody Kessler played outstanding in his second year as the starter.  He was one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the country, throwing 36 touchdowns and four interceptions.  This is a game with two storied programs looking to go out on top.

PREDICTION:  USC 36, Nebraska 20
