Drey Mingo WNBA Draft Profile

Drey Mingo WNBA Draft Profile

Drey Mingo, Senior, Power Forward, Purdue

 Purdue Team Page

Overview:

Drey Mingo spent a couple of relatively unproductive years at Maryland. As a freshman for the Terrapins, she barely averaged ten minutes per game, but was pretty productive when she was on the floor. The story was pretty much the same during the 2008-2009 campaign when the 6-2 forward averaged 3.7 points and 2.1 rebounds. Following that season, Mingo opted to head to Purdue.

Mingo had to sit out the 2009-2010 season, but once she suited up for the Boilermakers she finally got the opportunity to play some major minutes. On the year she averaged 12.0 points and 5.8 rebounds. What makes Mingo such an intriguing prospect is her ability to hit the outside shot. She does a lot of work on the glass and can stretch out the defense with her shooting ability.

Final Projection:

Mingo is an efficient scorer. She connected on 48.2 percent of her attempts from beyond the arc and 51.3 percent from the floor. That versatility makes her very tough to defend and her offensive game is only getting better with experience. With a year of experience in Purdue’s system, Mingo’s stock could soar with another solid season.
