Jazmine Jackson, Senior, Point Guard, Pepperdine

  Pepperdine Team Page

Overview:

As a part-time starter during the 2008-2009 campaign, point guard Jazmine Jackson made an immediate splash for Pepperdine. Jackson averaged 9.6 points per game and started to develop into a decent point guard by the end of the year. The following seasson Jackson stepped into a full-time starting role. Jackson ranked second on the team with 11.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists. She also emerged as a solid on-ball defender.

By the time Jackson was an upperclassman, she was the leader of the Waves. She led the team with 14.0 points and added 2.8 assists, 2.6 steals and 6.1 rebounds as a junior and should be in store for a superb senior season.

Final Projection:

Jackson is not a pure point guard, but she does do a pretty good job of keeping the turnovers down. In Pepperdine’s offense she has never really had the opportunity to run the show on her own. She is not a shooter and, at 5-9, she does not have the size to play anywhere else at the next level. She is a good fit at Pepperdine, but how well she can adapt to the WNBA is the big question.
