Iasia Hemingway WNBA Draft Profile

Iasia Hemingway

Iasia Hemingway, Senior, Shooting Guard, Syracuse

 Syracuse Team Page

Overview:

Back in 2007-2008, Iasia Hemingway was a freshman at Georgia Tech. She ended up starting a majority of the games for the Yellow Jackets and showed her vast scoring potential. On the year she averaged 8.5 points per game and also grabbed 3.9 rebounds per contest. The following year Hemingway boosted her scoring tally to 11.1 points per game and started to develop her outside shooting.

At Syracuse Hemingway pretty much stopped shooting from the outside, but she emerged as a great scoring guard who could also hit the glass. During the 2010-2011 campaign, her first with the Orange, Hemingway was second on the team with an average of 12.7 points and led the team with 7.4 rebounds.

Final Projection:

Hemingway is not a shooter, but she can fight her way to the basket against just about any defender, no matter how tall they may be. She has been a nice fit at Syracuse where she has been able to develop her passing and rebounding skills, but in order to make it to the next level, she will need to improve her shooting enough to at least keep the opposing defense honest.
