Andrew Nicholson NBA Draft Profile

Andrew Nicholson NBA Draft Profile

Andrew Nicholson, Senior, Power Forward, St. Bonaventure

Overview:

Andrew Nicholson has worked his way from primarily a bruiser in the paint into a multi-faceted scorer. Back when he was a freshman in 2008-2009, the 6-9, 235 pound power forward averaged an impressive 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks. His 60.2 field goal percentage and 81 blocks led all freshmen nationally and as a result he won the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year award.

As a sophomore Nicholson stepped up his scoring output and averaged 16.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks. His field goal percentage dipped to 56.4 percent, but that is because Nicholson was starting to work on his outside shooting. By his junior campaign, Nicholson was capable of hitting the long ball. He was not knocking down a lot of long balls, or at a particularly high percentage, but he has proven to have a solid mid-range game.

Final Projection:

Nicholson is a proven scorer in the paint, a solid rebounder and a fine shot blocker. All of those skills can be taken into the NBA, but Nicholson’s ability to stretch out the defense and do the dirty work under the basket should make him an attractable option to any NBA team.
