Stanford College Softball Ashley Hansen 2012 NPF Draft Profile

Ashley Hansen, Senior, Shortstop, Stanford

Stanford Team Page

Overview:

Ever since Ashley Hansen stepped foot in Palo Alto, she has been Stanford’s leader on the diamond. She batted .400 as a freshman and earned all sorts of national accolades. Hansen has only gotten better since 2009. Each year her walk numbers have gone up and her strikeouts have gone down. In 2011 she struck out just five times in 192 at-bats. Hansen has also gotten strong and hit nine homeruns during her junior campaign. She also batted .495 and, of course, earned a whole slew of hardware for her efforts. Hansen will get more accolades in 2012.

Final Projection:

Hansen is a great contact hitter who has some power as well. She could be batting second or third for any team in the NPF right now. But it is her leadership and national experience that could make her a softball star. Hansen is a great shortstop who can make some amazing plays. More importantly, she is a steady and smart player who any pro team could build a franchise around.
