Drumming It Up at Milwaukee

Drumming It Up at Milwaukee

When the Violent Femmes needed a drummer, they went to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Femmes were always a Milwaukee group, so it made sense. It started with Victor DeLorenzo, who joined up with Gordon Gano and company in 1981. When he left in 1993, another Milwaukee grad, or at least he went there, Guy Hoffman took over the drumming for the Violent Femmes. DeLorenzo was a smart man. He stayed around for the Femmes best album, ‘Why Do Birds Sing?’ released in 1991 and was gone by the time ‘New Times’ was released in 1994….which is just a horrible album.

So let us just enjoy some 1991 Violent Femmes, from the great album ‘Why Do Birds Sing?’ If you like this one, be sure to check out the songs “Out The Window,” “I’m Free” and “Look Like That” as well.
